LEWIS BROWN
Managing Member
Lewis is the founding principal and managing member of Honeycomb Real Estate Partners. He brings more than 25 years of real estate experience to Honeycomb. Lewis’ career in real estate began in Boston in the mid-1990s when he purchased, rehabilitated, leased and ultimately sold a small portfolio of condominiums. Thereafter, Lewis graduated from Suffolk University Law School. As an attorney, Lewis worked as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Boston, focusing on litigation and transactional issues related to real estate, contracts, and construction.
In 2005 Lewis joined Vesta Corporation developing an expertise in deal identification, feasibility analysis, development planning, implementation, and construction oversight. He led Vesta’s Acquisition and Development Team, growing Vesta’s portfolio, including identifying new opportunities, negotiating with sellers, and securing various sources of capital. At Vesta, Lewis helped to identify and collaboratively close more than 50 transactions totaling more than $500 million of debt, including bridge, Fannie, Freddie, FHA, State Agency, and conventional sources. He also worked on closings totaling in excess of $250 million of equity, consisting of LIHTC, Historic, and conventional private capital. These transactions included 4% and 9% LIHTC redevelopments, 4% and 9% LIHTC new construction, traditional value add acquisitions, partnership interest purchases, and refinances.
By leveraging and working collaboratively with his colleagues, third-party professionals and external stakeholders, Lewis consistently delivers and closes transactions that are fiscally sound and socially responsible. His more than 25 years in real estate acquisitions and development and years as an attorney focused on real estate and construction law have informed and sharpened his analytical analysis of new opportunities, honed the rigor of his conducting due diligence, and created a solid base for overseeing the life cycle of a transaction.
For the last 4 years, Lewis has served as an adjunct faculty member in UCONN’s Executive MBA program, teaching Real Estate Investments and Capital Markets. Lewis graduated summa cum laude from Suffolk University Law School and with honors from the University of Michigan.
